Building on Comprendium's Content Services Platform concept ContentGateWay 2.1 includes additional application and infrastructure platform support; enhanced security, scalability and availability features; and a number of end user enhancements.

Most websites started off with administrators-webmasters-who had lots of responsibility and little authority. Today, we see the emergence of the web editor, a position that will become increasingly important.

Combined company supports full spectrum of unstructured content management needs; former Optika CEO Mark Ruport appointed executive vice president of operations for Stellent

Stellent, Inc., a global provider of content management solutions, announced today that at separate special meetings, the shareholders of Stellent and Optika Inc. (Nasdaq:OPTK) approved the merger between the two companies. In the merger, which was completed shortly after the shareholder meetings, Stellent acquired Optika for approximately 4.2 million shares of Stellent common stock, $10 million in cash and the assumption by Stellent of Optika's outstanding options.

With the closing of the merger, former stockholders of Optika now own approximately 16 percent of the outstanding shares of Stellent common stock, and former Stellent shareholders own approximately 84 percent of the combined entity.

In addition, the company unveiled an integrated solution for SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and support for the Microsoft Office Information Bridge Framework.

This qualifies as alter-world news in my book, but perhaps its just flown over my head.

Computer Associates and Zope have announced a partnership to provide open source content management solutions that are compatible with relational database technology and meet enterprise demands for performance, data persistence and manageability.

The short story is that an organization centered around a niche programming language (Python) who have a content management solution (Plone) that drives off of a flat-file database, have partnered with "the world's largest management software company" to enhance their solution to support a niche relational database.

And on top of all this, Zope is now describing itself as a "leading provider of Enterprise Content Management solutions".

Has someone been nibbling on too much nepeta cataria?

Smart Enterprise Suite is Gartner's concept encompassing functionality offered today by portals, team collaboration, and enterprise content management, and was first identified in May of 2002.
