Microsoft CMS Management Tool Updated

Announced today is version 2.0 of the MCMS Manager, a third party, open-source effort from an enterprising Sri Lankan MCMS geek by the name of Chester Ragel.

Managing Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) is not as simple as it sounds. It can be difficult to diagnose issues at times and the provided tools just might have a tendency to leave you high and dry.

If you play or depend on MCMS, this MCMS swiss army knife is not to be missed.

Livelink ECM PlatformOpen Text Corp one of Enterprise Content Management's (ECM) heavyweight vendors has announced the Livelink ECM Platform (note the word "platform").

The the new offering is described as a secure, integrated framework that combines a shared content repository with user, content, and process services in a service-oriented architecture (SOA).

As ECM365 recently editor James Brown recently noted, Open Text is all about "bigness". The platform, touts a shared repository and shared services. It provides the full range of ECM services: Collaboration, Documents, Web Content, E-mail Management, and ERP.

Bigness it may be. The vision is one of SOA as the lion tamer.

IBM's Workspace Collaboration Services Coming Soon

IBMIBM announces release v2.5 of the Workplace Collaboration Services (WCS) offering. WCS is an integrated collaboration environment leveraging both Lotus and WebSphere technologies, each previously available as separate products.

Workplace Collaboration Services includes email, calendaring, instant messaging, electronic learning, Web conferencing, document management, and web content management (CMS).

The product targets micro business, SMB, and the enterprise and is licensed on a processor based model.

Google Adds Sense to AdWords

Google AdwordsGoogle's ramping-up AdWords features, adding website targeting, new animated ad formats, and CPM (cost per 1000 impression) purchasing options. These features are typical of larger advertising networks and something that Google has been under pressure to develop or allow. The changes are a clear signal that Google is targeting the larger "brand advertisers" and moving into a broader field of competition.

Google's AdWords program is used to populate both the search results ads one finds in the right-hand column and to populate Google's network of publishers (like CMSWire).

Interoperable Enterprise Content Management (iECM)
