The M&A frenzy continued earlier this week as J.L. Halsey Corporation grabbed Web CMS vendor, Hot Banana, and web analytics vendor, ClickTracks. Importantly, I have to wonder how quickly they’ll re-brand Hot Banana.

In an interesting set of articles, Information Week reports that "IT employment in the United States is growing even as more businesses outsource tech work overseas" and Line 56 reports that India's labor shortage is driving them to hire Americans and other foreigners.

ECM Acquisition Fever - IBM Nabs FileNet

IBM announced today that it will buy California-based Enterprise Content Management (ECM) vendor FileNet in an all-cash deal valued at $1.6 billion. The is IBM's largest acquisition in about four years.

Geek Alert: New Perl Port of Lucene

The field of Lucene ports just sprouted another flower. The latest, a CPAN Perl module who's name is, yes, "Lucene". This is not a port strictly speaking, but a Perl wrapper around the C++ port of Lucene and as such should be smoking fast as compared to relatives like Plucene.
