The 11th edition of the "Web CMS Report" notes despite innovations in the marketplace and data suggesting otherwise, enterprise buyers and web content management vendors have a tough time incorporating Web 2.0 features and interfaces into their Web publishing make-up.

In a match made somewhere near heaven O3Spaces, B.V. -- the open source challenger to Microsoft SharePoint and provider of the O3Spaces Workplace Collaboration platform -- and Linux distro vendor Xandros have announced an agreement to provide OpenDocument and MS Office document collaboration, management and retention services for the forthcoming release of Xandros Server 2.0 Standard Edition.

O3Spaces targets SharePoint, whilst Xandros chips away at Windows Server and Windows XP sales.

Red Herring has announced that Nuxeo, known for their Open Source Enterprise CMS, has received a Red Herring 100 Europe award for being one of the top 100 companies leading the future of technology. The annual awards are bestowed upon the top 100 private technology companies from the EMEA region.

On April 15-18, the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley in CA will host the fourth annual OASIS Symposium. Entitled "eBusiness and Open Standards: Understanding the Facts, Fiction, and Future," the Symposium will draw an eclectic crowd of thought leaders, industry professionals and giddy geeks in the open source community.

Looks like the busy bees at Adobe are making the most of their decision to swallow Macromedia whole in 2005. In a move highly anticipated by the interactive programming and design community, Adobe releases the alpha version of Apollo, a cross-OS runtime that acts a little like the hot-headed lovechild of the dull but handy Acrobat Reader and bells-and-whistles Flash Player. In short, Apollo provides the ability to run Web apps both online and off.

Venerable Enterprise 2.0 software vendor 37signals -- makers of Basecamp, Backpack, Writeboards, and the Ruby on Rails framework -- has just opened the front door for their much anticipated CRM'ish offering. Highrise marks a new era of simple CRM for the 2.0 generation, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on a sneak preview.

Ecma International, gatekeepers of the ISO format, just accepted WiMedia as an ISO standard. This puts the WiMedia ultra-wideband protocol on the same plane as, well, PDF, for example.

The transition makes WiMedia the de jure standard for radio platform ultra-wideband wireless networking.

You can never quite escape the high school popularity contest, and that's okay as long as you're on the winning team. Gartner, a technology analyst firm with worldwide accolades, just labeled Vamosa a Cool Vendor in Content Management. Vamosa is a market leader in processing, analysis and content migration.
