Using components of its Media Asset Management and Digital Asset Management offerings, global consulting firm BearingPoint yields a media content solution that assists in solving two big content problems: managing complex compensation models, and validating copyright.

At present there are already prêt-a-porter copyright solutions in place for fluid digital content. Creative Commons, for example, utilizes a global copyright protection model tailored specifically for information-sharing in the Web 2.0 frontier.

O3Spaces & Xandros Further OSS SharePoint Offensive

O3 SpacesIn a match made somewhere near heaven O3Spaces, B.V. -- the open source challenger to Microsoft SharePoint and provider of the O3Spaces Workplace Collaboration platform -- and Linux distro vendor Xandros have announced an agreement to provide OpenDocument and MS Office document collaboration, management and retention services for the forthcoming release of Xandros Server 2.0 Standard Edition.

O3Spaces targets SharePoint, whilst Xandros chips away at Windows Server and Windows XP sales.

Adobe Unveils Apollo in Alpha

Looks like the busy bees at Adobe are making the most of their decision to swallow Macromedia whole in 2005. In a move highly anticipated by the interactive programming and design community, Adobe releases the alpha version of Apollo, a cross-OS runtime that acts a little like the hot-headed lovechild of the dull but handy Acrobat Reader and bells-and-whistles Flash Player. In short, Apollo provides the ability to run Web apps both online and off.

37signals Launches Highrise CRM, Big Deal?

WiMedia Becomes Wireless USB Standard

Ecma International, gatekeepers of the ISO format, just accepted WiMedia as an ISO standard. This puts the WiMedia ultra-wideband protocol on the same plane as, well, PDF, for example.

The transition makes WiMedia the de jure standard for radio platform ultra-wideband wireless networking.
