Our friends at CMS Watch stir up the proverbial hornet’s nest by suggesting that while other enterprise cms vendors are actively updating and maintaining their respective Web CMS offerings, IBM’s Workplace Web Content Management (WWCM) product is languishing behind the times.

JS-Kit Builds Enterprise-Class Widgets with Amateur Ease

By Angela Natividad  ::  Filed Under » Micro CMS

js-kit_comments.png

The rumors are true: comment box-modding is now an industry.

JS-Kit has just released a new Comments widget that boasts lots of important features but is disturbingly easy to implement and use. (Seriously. Try it here.)

At no cost and with no advertising, users of JS-Kit Comments can:

  • Monitor threads
  • Create RSS data feeds to track comments. This also empowers search engines to index them
  • Sort comments based on name, date and “karma” (based on user votes)

The feature doesn’t cause laggage and comments materialize instantly, even without the whole-page twitch that typically happens when a site is over-AJAXed.

After trying out Comments we started checking out JS-Kit’s other widgets. They include, Ratings, Top Rated and Polls — all sound CRM tools with a professional veneer. Just pop the HTML into your site.

It’s amateur-easy.

Ironically, Autonomy Robs Meridio of its Autonomy

By Angela Natividad  ::  Filed Under » M&A

No one’s safe from the M&A bug. UK firm Autonomy has just agreed to purchase Belfast-based Meridio for US$ 40.8 million.

Meridio is a global provider of enterprise document and records management software. Earlier this month, it updated its proprietary offering for easier integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and MS Exchange.

Not a bad relationship for its new parent company to inherit.

Vital Path has just released a new version of its PathBuilder offering, in which vestiges of virtualization are used for the greater good: “in-place” records management (that’s VP’s specialty).
