Ektron, a Web CMS vendor, released feature-packed Ektron CMS400.NET version 7.6. Many of the new features and pricing structure changes were made to improve performance and affordability. Other new features like multisite support ensure that the scope of Ektron is virtually unlimited.

After much waiting and anticipation from the open source content management world, Acquia has officially released Acquia Drupal, a free and commercially supported distribution of the Drupal Web CMS platform that marks the company's first major move since its inception.

Unfortunately, in the process, Acquia might end up confusing the new and existing Drupalers more than intended. The Drupal community might consider this as a negative move -- as Acquia, a commercial entity, has associated itself with Drupal, an open source project, a fair bit too much.

Daybreak ICS, Inc., a provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software and services, recently announced the release of eCapture Express, a new addition to its eCapture Suite of distributed document capture and delivery solutions.

eCapture Express is designed for workgroup or departmental deployments and establishes "a new level of simplicity" with its client-only architecture and subscription pricing model.

We reported recently about the slowed growth of the blogging industry. A new report by the Pew Internet and American Life Project may shed some additional light on the subject.

The study reported that networked workers, those who use the Internet or email at work -- which is 62% of American adults -- said such technologies are a "mixed blessing for them." Reading blogs at work was reported by only 11% of those surveyed. A mere 2% of the employed Internet users said they blog at work.

Users love SharePoint. Users hate SharePoint. Despite much controversy around MOSS, Microsoft has been positioned by Gartner in the 2008 Leaders Magic Quadrant in both the Enterprise Content Management and Horizontal Portals segments.

Microsoft is proud of its positioning in the ECM Magic Quadrant and says this development “signifies the strides SharePoint Server 2007 is making in the ECM industry.”

MOSS as Enterprise CMS was released less than two years ago, impacting the entire ECM industry.

Janus Boye is determined to bring a “breath of cool, refreshing Nordic air into the stuffy and crowded U.S. conference landscape.” The 5th International Conference -- jboye09 -- will be held in Philadelphia on May 5-7, 2009.

United Planet, a developer of enterprise portal software, has recently launched Intrexx Xtreme 4.5. The new version offers increased flexibility and interoperability, improved user management, MS Office Business Adapter and integration of the dynamic Groovy scripting language.

The global economy may be imploding, but the flow of investment capital into the social media space shows no sign of recession. Intel Capital continues the trend by taking a US$ 20 million stake in Telligent Systems.

Pringo, a developer of online community software, recently launched a beta version of Pringo 3.0, a non-hosted social networking platform that will allow enterprises to create and manage social platforms.

Can a newspaper exist without publishing syndicated news content?

Early this month, The Star-Ledger of Newark, New Jersey, put this question to the test with a one-day boycott of The Associated Press news. The print issue relied primarily on stories by staff members, as well as Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, McClatchy-Tribune News Service and several smaller Advance Publication papers in New Jersey.

After the one-day experiment, The Star-Ledger was back to publishing AP news. While the boycott may have been inspired by a need to prove independence from the world's largest news-gathering source, it also may have been fueled by the rate increase the AP is implementing in January 2009.
