Introducing Ektron 8.7
As with any industry, the needs and demands of the customer changes. Recently, Ektron has noticed that its CMS users are looking for more cloud and mobile support in their web content management solutions and therefore decided to update its platform to version 8.7.
Almost every organization I talk to is working on improving their mobile experience in some way, and most are exploring or already using the cloud," said Jonathan Wall, Product Marketer for Ektron.
Therefore, with this update Ektron wanted to give its customers a solution that would improve both web and mobile experiences and easily adapt new technology and web strategies that might become available. The updates are centered around editing, responsive design support for mobile devices, cloud support and SharePoint.
- Responsive Design Support for Mobile: Mobile is becoming a key factor in any aspect of the technology industry with more and more users connecting on mobile devices. Ektron has added a feature that enables users to create and preview web pages the on their mobile device and has also added a native framework support for tools like Twitter Bootstrap for developers.
- Cloud Manager Support for Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure: By adding cloud management support, Ektron aims to reduce the amount of time and budget that is usually spent on hardware and IT. Version 8.7 now supports both Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure.
- An Editing Change: In updating its editing tools, Ektron has improved the tool’s image management capabilities, given users the ability to create HTML bookmarks within content, added an external content embedding feature and improved website accessibility with Section 508 validation and compliance.
- SharePoint Support: Through a SharePoint Connector in the Digital Experience Hub, users can now put SharePoint metadata on the websites. There's also bi-directional synchronization, so when content is deleted in SharePoint, it can also be automatically deleted on the Ektron-based website.
