A special, cloud-based version of eZ Systems web content management system will be offered through a new partnership with Deutsche Telekom.
eZ Systems offers a commercial, open source web content management system called eZ Publish. Deutsche Telekom’s new Business Marketplace offers a variety of cloud-based business applications to that market. Together, the two will offer a cloud-based version of eZ Publish for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The Business Marketplace allows companies to find software solutions, and then try them without charge before buying and using them. When a solution is booked, the companies are charged on a per-use basis.
Deutsche Telekom said the Marketplace appeals to SMBs because the solutions are offered in a one-stop environment, with one source to handle all usage, billing or services issues. Additionally, as with other cloud-based services, installation and maintenance by an IT department is not required.
eZ Systems CEO Garbriele Viebach said in a statement that the partnership “provides a high quality and out-of-the-box multichannel cloud-based web content management system” to the Marketplace’s customers, and will help the Deutsche Telekom app store succeed.
The companies said that the version of eZ Publish to be utilized for the Marketplace was specifically developed for this cloud-based environment. It is branded as eZ Publish International, because the intended market is SMBs that operate internationally and need multiple language support.
The product is designed to allow users to create a website that, in addition to being multilingual, also provides sites intended for mobile devices, such as tablets. The system employs ready-to-publish templates, is intended for users with little technical knowledge and features web engagement management tools, advanced portals and collaboration.
The eZ Community has over 40,000 members, including developers who participate in the open source eZ Publish roadmap and development. eZ Systems, which has provided web content management systems since 1999, provides vendor support of the product and a commercial version designed for businesses, called eZ Publish Enterprise.
In February of this year, eZ Systems released a Cloud Edition of eZ Publish, with the support of the Finnish cloud solutions provider Ixonos.
