Today’s mobile-centric news continues as content sharing website Pinterest announced a few updates to its iOS app which make it easier for users to share, like and repin favorite posts.
Pinterest iOS Version 2.6
With Pinterest it’s all about the experience, as users can post their own content, find a new idea or hobby and connect with members that have similar interests, but the quality of this experience is based around how well the site works. Pinterest changed its user interface with this most recent iOS update to make sharing, pinning and liking posts easier.
One of the most highlighted features of this update is the new way to pin and engage with content with what is referred to as an "animated shortcut." By pressing and holding on to a particular photo, the option to share, pin or like will appear as buttons that are activated by sliding your finger to the appropriate option.
The animated addition is fun in spirit and practical in function as it further simplifies the act of pinning on mobile and makes the app even more addicting for the constant digital collector,” wrote Jennifer Van Grove
Users should note that they can’t lift their finger off the screen during this action or the buttons will disappear.
Another significant update to the iOS Pinterest app is the Edit Home Feed function where, as the name suggests, users can add or remove content from their home feed. This feature is currently only available on the iPhone. Other minor updates to the Pinterest app include crash fixes and the ability to send pins from an iPad.
At the time it’s not known if or when these updates will added to other versions of the Pinterest app such as those available for Android devices and the Windows Phone.
Happy (Almost) Birthday Pinterest!
It’s been about a year since Pinterest was released to the public and since then the content sharing site has gone through a variety of changes, updates and redesigns.
Along with recent additions such as a Do Not Track feature and personalized recommendations -- which are rolling out for mobile as well as web version of the site -- other new features in the last year include an integration with 140 Proof to improve social sharing, a new website design, a website verification feature and a new analytics tool.
