SAP’s Big Data Transition Strategy will be studied in MBA programs a few years from now. The company is disrupting its industry with revolutionary solutions without disrupting its customers. Needless to say, that’s a hard thing to do.
Earlier this year, SAP announced that its super- fast in-memory database management system, SAP HANA, was able to do analytics and transactions in the same database — thereby giving Enterprise decision makers the ability to understand not only what’s happening, while it’s happening, but also to take advantage of insights based on what’s happened in the past during the customer relationship to get a sense of how a customer might be feeling during the current transaction.
No other vendor can do this. SAP stands alone in this space.
Up and Running in 12 Weeks (or Less)
Today SAP one-upped itself when it unveiled rapid-deployment solutions for the SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA. What this means, promises SAP, is that it will take 12 weeks or less to implement these new capabilities and have real-time analytics up and running at its customer sites.
This new capability will shut criticisms from would-be “SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA” competitors down; their only defense, up until now, has been to say that SAP’s new solution would take too long to implement.
The aforementioned suite includes SAP CRM powered by the SAP HANA rapid-deployment solution — also available as part of SAP 360 Customer — which offers a quick turnaround in applying real-time analytics across a variety of touch-points in customer data.
By doing so, SAP offers its customers an unprecedented advantage over their current and would be competitors.
The Future is Data
Academics and Enterprise leaders agree that data-driven organizations will win the future and that those who fail to catch the wave will likely perish.
This speaks to the value that the SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA provides for the organizations which choose to adopt it.
SAP also introduced similar rapid-deployment solutions for Finance, Controlling, Manufacturing and Trading.
One concern that Enterprises and organizations always stress over when implementing new software is cost. SAP takes that concern away by selling its services according to a fixed scope and price.
“The promise of SAP’s Business Suite powered by SAP HANA and SAP 360 Customer is to enable businesses to run faster, simpler and smarter,” says Steven Birdsall, senior vice president and general manager, SAP Deployment Solutions.
Who wouldn’t want that?
Birdsall goes on to say that with rapid deployment as a given and implementation barriers gone, the company’s customers can transition into real-time business without disruption.
It’s a big promise to make.
