This week in DAM, we learn how much your digital assets are worth, how to survive DAM and how one company aims to innovate DAM solutions.

How Much Are Your Digital Assets Worth?

JumpTime, a technology company that optimizes ROI on digital content investments, has announced their first patent for determining the real-time economic value of digital content assets in a network.

The patent, which specifies a “method and system for determining overall content values for content elements in a web network and for optimizing internet traffic flow through the web network” (U.S. Patent No. 8,171,156), aims to provide content owners new insights into the performance, management and optimization of their business.

So what would you do if you knew the true value of each piece of content on your website? Using JumpTime’s FloPower -- a metric that express the value of each content asset in terms of both dollars and page views, users can see what happens when someone gets to a single page on a site and what happens next. The idea is that knowing the real-time economic value of digital assets can then be used to optimize ROI of content investments.

As if that wasn’t enough, JumpTime has released another new tool called Revenue by Traffic Referral Source designed to calculate “the exact economic value in dollars of a site’s traffic referral sources including social media, search, referring links and partner sites.”

A Guide to Surviving DAM

Looking for insights, strategies and a common sense guide for making DAM work for the end user? Look no further than the DAM Survival Guide, written by David Diamond. The guide aims to help users best determine their organization’s DAM needs, understand what can reasonably be expected from a DAM system, cut through the marketing-speak heard from DAM vendors, as well as plan a DAM initiative that can succeed.

The book is fairly comprehensive, providing chapters on the anatomy of DAM, staffing considerations and software considerations. From newbies to experienced digital asset managers, the DAM Survival Guide provides enough information that you can access what you need when you need it. Available in paperback or for the Kindle.

A Renewed Focus on DAM Leadership

North Plains has announced the expansion of the company’s senior management team with the appointment of five new executives, along with the creation of the Office of the CTO. The additions come as the pure-play DAM provider expands their market presence globally and increases company growth. The formation of the Office of the CTO will also allow North Plains the time and staff to focus on developing innovative enterprise solutions aimed at effectively managing the entire lifecycle of their creative assets alongside ever-evolving media.

Among the CTO’s priorities will be mapping out North Plains’ technology strategies, and spearheading product development for both the TeleScope and Xinet lines of products.
