While North Plains basks in record revenue in 2011, Adobe dropped the price on Lightroom 4.

Record Revenue for North Plains

North Plains enjoyed record revenue in 2011. In the company's announcement, James Christopher, President and CEO of North Plains, explains:

In 2011 the company invested heavily in building a top-tier services team, upgrading to a world class infrastructure for TeleScope OnDemand, broadening our managed service offerings, and expanding our footprint in Europe. Those efforts paid off for the company with record revenue, and a doubling of the number of hosted clients. We also saw strong growth and continued expansion of our On Premise customers, as more than 25 went live or expanded their use of digital asset management."

Lightroom 4, Lighter Pricetag

Adobe announced the release of Photoshop Lightroom 4 for Mac OS and Windows. The beta version rolled out in January. The final version is US$ 149 for the full version or US$ 79 for the upgrade, down from the previous US$ 299 and US$ 99 pricetags. Does Your Digital Asset Management System Need an API?

Edward Smith explained how to decide whether an API integration is necessary to improve your workflow. "You might need an API to integrate DAM with other systems like e-Commerce systems, content management systems, websites and intranet sites," he wrote. "On the other hand, you might only require an “out of the box” digital asset management system."

Getty Introduces Connect API

Getty Images recently introduced its Connect API. In his article about the announcement, Naresh Sarwan says the Connect API news is interesting for several reasons. For example, "If you are a corporate DAM user and your business purchases many images from Getty, then there will be pressure upon DAM vendors to provide connectors that allow content to be directly ingested from Getty (and similar stock libraries) into your DAM system without the hassle of downloading it and re-uploading it," he explains. Sarwan also says the Connect API might give the a boost to sales for Getty's DAM system, Getty Images Media Manager.
