5280 Solutions Soups Up SharePoint Image Capture

5280 Solutions, a renaissance-style team of developers specializing in software, consulting and systems integration organization, just released Document Management Imaging Suite for SharePoint (MOSS) 2007.
What does this mean for users? They’ll now be able to automate digital image capture and data extraction from scanned paper in order to process that information, all while storing the resulting documents in their dear SharePoint repository.
Document Management Imaging Suite boasts two major SharePoint-friendly inclusions: a base capture functionality and Uconnect. The base capture functionality includes a set of web services that integrate nicely with Kofax Ascent Capture, enabling the release of documents and metadata into the SharePoint library. Both XML and SOA standards are supported.
Uconnect, designed to bi-directionally integrate SharePoint with common business software like CRM, ERP, HR and accounting apps, streamlines the document management process. Users can implement a search directly from their business app of choice. These characteristics are a boon for departments like accounts payable, whose multiple headaches can find at least a bit of ease in direct integration between content-enabled and transaction-focused applications - a can-of-worms process that sounds simpler than it actually is.
