Access Zoho Documents Within KnowledgeTree Document Management
The history between KnowledgeTree (news, site) and Zoho (news, site) is a long one based largely on the former providing SaaS document management and the latter providing the online productivity platform. That history has been extended with further integration and new abilities.
This latest announcement is again aimed at providing more and better capabilities for mobile employees and will enable users to create new documents and spreadsheets using Zoho Writer and Zoho Sheet from inside KnowledgeTree.
As a result, users will be able to save, access and edit documents including spreadsheets directly in the repository without having to use desktop software such as Microsoft Word. It also means that with existing documents users will be able to edit them without going through multi-step check-out and check-in.
KnowledgeTree Document Management
KnowledgeTree’s SaaS document management solution provides customers with the ability to share files and manage their business processes at a low cost of product ownership.
It comes with dozens of 'commercial-only' features, such as the KnowledgeTree client tools, and additional document management functionality. Current features include:
- Simple and intuitive web-interface
- Thumbnail and Instant View document preview functionality that allows you to see what’s in a document before downloading it from the repository
- Customizable dashboard (displaying subscriptions, pending documents, checked-out documents)
- Unlimited documents, folders, workflows, document properties, document types, roles, groups and users provide space for ample storage and collaboration
- Create users, groups and roles that map to your organization’s structure & processes
KnowledgeTree Microsoft Add-In
Last year KnowledgeTree introduced KnowledgeTree Office Add-in which provides an alternative, client-side interface to KnowledgeTree from within Microsoft Office 2007 applications.
This client tool displays as a side panel within the Microsoft Office 2007 interface, providing a view of an organization's Microsoft Office 2007 content stored and managed through KnowledgeTree's web-based document management system.
The result is that users can access Office 2007 documents stored in the KnowledgeTree repository through an integrated panel that is built into the KnowledgeTree server stack.
It also comes with sophisticated security settings, which provide a considerable commercial advantage as security is generally recognized as one of the major impediments to cloud deployments, as well as better mobile access and low management costs.
Be Productive with Zoho
For its part Zoho is one of the darlings of the Web 2.0 crowd and provides a whole pile of applications that make it an increasingly attractive productivity platform option.
It comes with numerous business apps that it is adding to on a regular basis, the most recent of which is its calendar, which links all a users web-based calendars into a single diary. 19 different business applications, from CRM to Mail, Reports and Wikis. With Zoho Mobile, six of these browser-based applications can be accessed from the extended list of platforms.
If you're interested in this, KnowledgeTree offers a complete, fully functional 30-day trial for an unlimited number of users. Available for free, users can access all the functionality of KnowledgeTree, including the ability to download and install client tools such as a Microsoft Office Add-in and a cross-platform explorer for Windows, Mac and Linux desktops.
