Quiet enough week with the long weekend, but even still a few bones to pick at. Box has upgraded the administrative functions making it easier to use, IGC has upgraded Brava for Documentum, Nuance has also upgraded its PDF converter, while Enolsoft has released a PDF Converter for Mac.

Box Upgrades Administration

Box has enhanced its admin console with intuitive controls to unlock deeper content insights, enhance security and streamline the Box content management experience. The upgrades provide IT admins with a centralized view of their enterprise content operations. New Box enterprise administrator tools include:

  • Advanced admin console and enterprise-wide search
  • Enhanced mobile security settings
  • Multiple email domain support
  • Activity notification archiving
  • A new Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) for new and existing customers deploying Box to their organization

The new Box enterprise admin features are available this week as a beta for Box Enterprise Accounts. If you would like to join the beta program waitlist, you need to email Box. Check out the blog for more on this.

IGC Upgrades Brava for Documentum

Also over the week, Informative Graphics Corporation (IGC) has announced the release of Brava! 7 for EMC Documentum TaskSpace 6.6 and 6.7 SP1.

Brava offers multi-format viewing and collaboration that is ideal for transactional business applications common to TaskSpace customers. Users only need a web browser to access files, so no desktop installations are needed.

The original document is never sent to client machines and is never modified, maintaining the integrity of the original document.

One of the big improvements that IGC is pushing is the new version is Brava’s Compare feature, which allows users to compare different versions of a document or CAD drawing, even if those versions are in different formats (e.g., Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF).

For text-searchable documents, users can step through each area of difference one at a time and create a summary report of differences. For drawings, users can view the versions side by side or overlay one on the other. Areas of difference are highlighted in red or green (deletions and additions, respectively).

Nuance Upgrades PDF Converter

Nuance was also busy this week with the release of Nuance PDF Converter Enterprise 8. Upgrades offer users editing and sharing features that reduce the steps needed to get jobs done.

PDF Converter Enterprise 8 also improves the way users share documents and collaborate with new connections to Web and cloud technologies, and costs about one-third the price of Adobe Acrobat, Nuance says.

PDF Converter 8 includes full-page PDF editing, which makes it as easy to edit a PDF as changing a Microsoft Word document. It also features Dragon Dictation, the speech recognition tool that allows users to use speech to create text for sticky notes or input text into PDF document.

To aid in document collaboration, this release adds PDF Collaboration, which enables simultaneous editing of the same PDF by multiple users, document and screen sharing and chat and voice sessions during the editing process.

PDF Converter Enterprise 8 delivers PDF editing, speech recognition, live collaboration and cloud storage and focuses on increased functionality, efficient collaboration and sharing tools, and less effort converting, saving and storing documents in the office.
