It’s a busy week everywhere, with Oracle and SharePoint’s annual conference. And there’s been a lot of document management too. Xerox has upgraded DocuShare, Oracle’s E-Business Suite has new invoice security, Autonomy has upgraded WorkSite, there’s mobile document management for iPad from NewSoft, while Colligo and NewsGator have teamed up for SharePoint functionality.
Xerox Upgrades DocuShare
Xerox has announced an upgrade to its DocuShare enterprise content management system. DocuShare 6.6 automates the lifecycle of documents, images and forms — from the point of capture until they are no longer needed.
New features and add-ons of DocuShare 6.6 include:
- DocuShare Lifecycle Manager keeps documents current to meet compliance standards by notifying administrators when updates are needed.
- DocuShare Enterprise Capture digitizes large volumes of paper documents — up to two million pieces — into searchable data through integration with ABBYY FlexiCapture.
- SharePoint integration allows access to DocuShare content and simultaneous searching —with the ability to browse and manage documents, collections and workspaces.
In addition to this, workflow and eForms enhancements offer expanded content rules and permissions for document collections, and the ability to add attachments and authentication to eForms.
The continuing upgrades to DocuShare underlines Xerox’s stated ambition of becoming a household name not just for printing hardware, but in the document management space too.
SharePoint Releases from Anaheim
From the SharePoint conference in Anaheim this week, NewsGator and Colligo Networks announced they are joining forces to combine social computing, email management and document repository content as an integrated body of business knowledge.
The partnership combines the SharePoint 2011 collaboration platform, NewsGator Social Sites 2010 social computing suite and Colligo’s solutions for email management in SharePoint as an integrated solution that extends email content to the social computing and is designed to improve user participation and the quality of data and interactions.
Invoice Auditor for Oracle E-Business Suite
More for Oracle’s E-Business Suite, this time from ReadSoft, which has launched the expansion of its AP Automation solutions for Oracle E-Business Suite at Oracle OpenWorld with the release of PROCESSIT Auditor.
As an application monitoring invoice lifecycle activity, Auditor is an investigative tool designed to provide insight into possible fraud and non-standardized processes throughout the life of an invoice.
The application allows process managers to detect when the same user role has performed activities that may present regulatory compliance or internal process violations. Users also have the ability to inspect multiple invoices across a particular timeframe, focus on one invoice and download reports based on their findings for broader inspection and collaboration.
It may be a small addition, but it’s a significant one in that it adds the possibility of more functionality to a suite of applications that aims to be all things to all businesses.
Autonomy Upgrades WorkSite
Autonomy, which is close to becoming part of HP — in fact, the closure of the US$ 12 billion was announced on Monday — has ignored all the bad things being said about it and continues to produce new products.
