Soft Xpansion (news, site) has recently released version 7 of its Perfect PDF Premium PDF creator and editor. This release highlights support for various office suites and browsers, including Microsoft Office, OpenOffice.org, Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, among others.

Soft Xpansion helps make document management easier by enabling the creation of PDF files from within office programs, email applications and web browsers. Perfect PDF now has better integration with popular desktop-based software, which includes Microsoft Office Visio and Project, OpenOffice.org and Mozilla's Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client.

Perfect PDF Premium 7's web-to-PDF creation also allows for saving multiple web pages into a single PDF. This includes hyperlinked pages up to a pre-defined depth. When converting from web content, Perfect PDF also has support for form fields and JavaScript. Perfect PDF Premium also gives users advanced PDF editing features, such as multimedia annotations (video and sound), hierarchically-structured annotation and text string search via network.

Not Your Ordinary PDF Editor

PDF Premium 7 runs a host of features you would expect from premium PDF editing and management software. Apart from one-click PDF creation from popular Office suites, the application also offers the following, among other useful features:

  • Import metadata from Office documents
  • Combine of multiple files into PDF
  • Manipulate pictures and text blocks within a PDF page
  • Manage embedded files within PDFs
  • Add watermarks, backgrounds, headers, footers and stamps; The software includes a gallery of different pre-defined elements to add to PDF files
  • Insert and edit layers, which can optionally include content
  • PDF protection through AES and RC4 encryption

Perfect PDF 7 Premium retails for 74.99 Euro for a new retail license. License upgrades from version 5 and 6 will cost 39.99 Euros. Soft Xpansion says users can opt for a download-only version, which will be sold for 74.99 Euro. Otherwise, CD-ROM orders will start shipping by end of May.

Meanwhile, a trial version is also available from Soft Xpansion's website, which will enable full functionality, but PDF files displayed, created and edited by the application will have a prominent watermark.
