SiteScape(R), the premier provider of secure Web-based workflow, document management and collaboration, today announced the availability of SiteScape Enterprise Forum 7.1, the newest edition of this robust, web-based solution. SiteScape Enterprise 7.1 is the latest milestone in SiteScape's continued corporate and government momentum.
"The release of Forum 7.1 indicates SiteScape's ability to produce practical features driven by customer feedback," said Jeffrey Thompson, Technical Services Director at the US Navy's Tactical IT Integration Program Office.
The upgrade features a range of new capabilities designed to ensure greater enterprise scalability, enhance document management capabilities, and create a richer graphical user interface. New tools such as Forum overview, HTML viewer, multi-file download, off-line synchronization via HTML email, folder maps, graphical workflow, time zone preferences, and language preferences, along with improved LDAP support, server security and administrative interfaces, make the product easier to use for both end-users and administrators.
The release of SiteScape Enterprise Forum 7.1 also comes at a time when SiteScape is experiencing unprecedented growth, having boosted annual sales to record levels by more than 65 percent in 2003, driven by a remarkable increase in sales in the government sector.
"SiteScape Enterprise Forum has been proven time and again in both customer engagement and third-party evaluations to be the premier collaboration and document management solution," said Brian J. Hays, newly appointed SiteScape chairman and CEO. "SiteScape Enterprise Forum 7.1 is a significant release. Both users and administrators will appreciate its enhanced document management features and improved security. Our engineers have made the product more sophisticated to meet the diverse needs of our growing customer base, yet they have also made it even easier to install and use."
Some of the major features included in SiteScape Enterprise Forum 7.1 include:
-- Forum overview: Gives users the ability to view charts and graphs that display statistical information about entries, workflow processes and tasks in the discussions forum and calendars.
-- HTML viewer: Forum can convert numerous types of uploaded files into HTML, allowing users to view an uploaded file regardless of whether the application associated with the file is installed on their computer.
-- Multi-file download: Users can simultaneously download multiple attachments as a single compressed zip file from a Forum entry to their desktop or laptop.
-- Folder maps: Allow users to see how document and discussion forums are structured; this feature is especially useful for navigating forums that contain many folders and subfolders. Users can view the sub-folder structure at a glance, with a graphical representation of the folder contents.
-- HTML email: Enhanced capability allows users to work offline. Users can receive Forum e-mail messages and notifications in their original HTML format and can post a response (with attachments) into Forum by replying to the email.
-- Graphical workflow: New workflow user interface displays a visual chart, or tree, of the entire workflow process, allowing quicker comprehension of complex workflow processes. Users can zoom in and out on various states of the workflow process and can quickly make and see changes in state transitions, queries, e-mail notifications, and access controls.
-- Time zone/languages preferences: Users can choose the server local time or any standard world time zone, allowing any time-related entries to be understood as taking place in the specified time zone. In addition, language preferences and a multi-language spell check can be installed from the user profile.
Forum 7.1 includes administrative enhancements such as:
-- Large-scale DMZ support: Makes it easier to have larger, more secure configurations behind multiple firewalls, allowing servers to be located in a DMZ (secure, demilitarized zone).
-- Custom-form interface: Uses frames to display both the tools and elements in the command, allowing users to modify, delete or reposition these elements while getting a cumulative view of the form/command as it is built.
-- Expanded role definition editor: Allows users to modify the access rights allowed to each role for all Forums and workspaces that inherit roles from the workspace.
-- LDAP-synchronization scheduling: Zone managers can specify a schedule for Forum to automatically synchronize its user and group database with the LDAP-based server. Forum 7.1 includes new options such as synchronization of group membership, automatic registration of groups and the disabling of user accounts and groups.
-- Email setting management interface: Redesigned for ease of use, several changes were made to the discussion Forum management menu.
