Google Grants Sites and Docs New Perks

Brand newness came to Google Sites and Docs this week in the form of horizontal navigation, global footers, and quick links. Check it out.

Horizontal navigation is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. The addition enables site owners to add links across the top of their sites, like so:

Similarly, global footers can now be displayed across all pages on a site, and there's a new section for deleted items in case you feel like rummaging through your trash.

Further, quick links open Google Docs that are embedded on a site:

And speaking of Google Docs,  the tool got some notable updates as well:

  • When you type something that Google recognizes as a Web address, it will automatically be linked.
  • New page sizes! Think: 7.25” x 10.5”
  • Finally, spell check has been added to Google spreadsheets.

If you're not seeing the updates, just hit the refresh button. And head over here to the official announcement (on Google's new small business blog!) or more info.
