Day Software is looking to increase its ECM market share in NEMEA - Northern Europe, Middle East and Asia. That’s an interesting combination of markets to manage, one that sounds like other ECM providers use, but we hadn’t heard of before. Guess Europe is a little too big for one person to handle.

Other content management vendors have two choices when it comes to SharePoint — join it or beat it. The product is entrenched at the departmental level, nevertheless aspiring competitor, Alfresco, think they can uproot enough MOSS to make business sense of a full assault. Others seek harmony. Day Software is one of these. And their latest claim is that they can help SharePoint grow from department collaboration to enterprise content management.

Most of the connectors we see for SharePoint are focused on search, content repositories and social networking. Here’s one that fits a different bill - ADAM Software offers a connector for SharePoint to improve it’s Digital Asset Management capabilities — to a degree.

Outsourcing to India, China and Ukraine doesn’t surprise us anymore. What we found interesting, however, is an emerging trend in the world of offshoring that doesn’t revolve around India and Chennai, in particular.

Chennai may be losing its top placement on the list of offshore capitals of the world, as Lima, capital of Peru, comes in. Peru is starting to be seen as the new destination for general web development, as well as more specialized projects such as CMS implementations.

Alfresco Software, creator of the open source Alfresco ECM system, has announced that Adobe Systems has implemented Alfresco’s ECM capabilities into the Acrobat.com website. The system will now maintain hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of documents that can be uploaded, shared, converted and collaborated. This marks a giant step forward for Alfresco and all of the open source development community.

Day Software, a provider of global content management and content infrastructure software, recently announced the company’s financial results for the first half of 2008. Overall, things are going well for the company, but there is still room for improvement.

Open Text is expanding its ECM portfolio by announcing a new solution for e-mail management targeted at law firms.

The solution — Open Text E-mail Lifecycle Management for Law Firms — combines such features as e-mail filing and archiving and aims to help firms to define, secure and control the e-mail management and retention processes according to compliance mandates and internal policies.

Adlib Software, a provider of document management solutions, has revealed a new Value Added Reseller (VAR) channel program that will allow companies to better handle the software, training and support needed by clients. The new channel program — which has been greatly expanded in North America — will also provide companies opportunities to earn more revenue. It appears to be a win-win situation for all those involved.

CMS Watch has come out with its Enterprise Portals Report 2009 and it appears like Microsoft SharePoint may be splitting the vendors into camps — those that have been able to rise above and those that have risen to challenge MOSS. It’s interesting to see who shows up where.
