Altien Simplifies ECM for IBM
Now knowledge workers have a new option in the realm of enterprise document management. Altien Document Manager (ADM), a DM product that works across major Enterprise CMS platforms, now connects with the IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition (IICE) platform.
Altien and IBM are working together to address the challenge of enterprise document management adoption and usage.
Altien Document Manager (ADM) is a product suite for document & records management built on the FileNet P8 platform. In a massive deal announced in August of this year, FileNet was acquired by IBM and the two companies products are now being actively aligned.
“Our customers can now implement a migration path toward a common ECM infrastructure and away from legacy repositories over time and without disrupting their users,” said Jason Hirst, CEO of Altien, explaining the benefits of the integration move. This is a key marketing strategy, since the company also acknowledges that getting knowledge workers to use document management systems remains a serious challenge.
The ADM web client makes extensive use of Ajax technology. It provides a flexible, highly scalable abstraction layer that makes applications repository independent and is well-suited for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) projects that require an SOA content bus that extends the information as a service framework to include unstructured information.
IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition provides a single, bi-directional interface to numerous data sources including content management and workflow systems from IBM/FileNet and other vendors including EMC Documentum, Hummingbird, Microsoft, Open Text, Oracle, Stellent and CRM applications. Altien Document Manager also includes optional desktop integration with Microsoft Office productivity applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook plus Lotus Notes and Novell Groupwise.
Altien (www.altien.com) is a developer of applications that leverage market-leading enterprise content management platforms. The company was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in the UK. They pride themselves on depth of knowledge around both ECM and leading-edge web technologies such as AJAX.
