Armedia Helps Documentum Go Mobile
![]()
Soon those people you see twiddling their Blackberries or tickling their iPhones will be doing more than checking email and watching YouTube. Thanks to an alliance between Armedia and VSR Networks, EMC Documentum users will soon be able to manage content from their mobile devices.
Not to be confused with the “Jimi Hendrix Experience”, the Armedia Mobile Experience for EMC Documentum is geared to providing real-time access from mobile devices to Documentum repositories.
The Armedia Mobile Experience currently consists of two applications:
- Mobile AppWatch gives users access to the status of all critical processes. IT managers, who are famous for being control freaks, can monitor production environments remotely through a dashboard that also provides detailed status reports.

- Incident Management System (IMS) is geared toward in-the-field insurance adjusters and the like who need to create and manage incidents from anywhere using their smartphone.
For more information and a cool demo, head over to the EMC Developer Network Site where you will see that the IMS won first place in the EMC D6 Web Services Challenge.
Kudos to Armedia and Lead Developer, Terence McDevitt, for their well-deserved prize. The US$50,000 doesn’t hurt either.
is it time to trade in our laptops for smartphones? Not just yet, but that day is approaching quickly. When that day does arrive, at least the enterprise content management problem will be solved.
