Business Objects already had an integration toolkit for SharePoint 2003. The kit builds on that capability for the newest version of SharePoint. It enables developers to integrate Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence reports with the SharePoint environment providing companies with a single point of access for all their information management needs.
SharePoint 2007 Web Part Package
Included in the kit is the SharePoint 2007 Web Part Package, part of the BusinessObjects Enterprise Framework. This package integrates report-viewing and distribution features for Crystal Reports and Enterprise reports. It includes the following items:
- Three functional web parts: Document List, Document View, Crystal Report View
- 2 sample web parts
- 2 aspx pages to control the display: CrystalCalendar.aspx and CrystalReport.aspx.
These web parts will enable SharePoint users to create functional BI dashboards from more than just Excel spreadsheets definitely increasing the usefulness of the dashboard. In addition, the ability to export the report views to Word, Excel or PDF increases is a great benefit.
And so goes the story of another vendor vying for top position with the SharePoint community.
It definitely helps SharePoint's cause to become the best enterprise information management tool. Ever heard this saying before? "One portal to rule them all!" With all his buddies helping out, SharePoint may just become that portal!
