FileNet Email Manager v3.7 is out just in time for IBM's Information on Demand ECM conference. New feature additions include support for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, and Novell GroupWise. The automated item classification engine enables dynamic declaration of enterprise email entities.FileNet, recently acquired by IBM , offers FileNet P8, a suite of solutions for Enterprise Content Management, and its fully integrated Email Manager component. Together they are positioned to play a key role in corporate records management and compliance needs. The Email Manager product is designed to capture, organize, monitor, retrieve, retain and share all forms of e-mail content.
As a rules-based email management solution, Email Manager automates the process of capturing email messages as business records, addresses records management and compliance issues related to email, and provides ways to leverage and share email content across business functions and processes. This comprehensive approach makes it a favorite in the Enterprise CMS space.
Specific email management issues targeted with this release include:
* Storage Utilization: management capabilities are offered to help eliminate the capture of duplicate email messages and ensure that copies of emails -- with or without attachments -- will be written to a FileNet repository only once.
* Records Management: dynamic records classification capabilities, and integration with FileNet Records Manager, enable an automated declaration of email as records to address compliance and corporate records management requirements.
* Electronic Discovery: targeted capture and filing of email messages with a personal storage file management option to ensure that all business critical messages, even those stored off the email server in PST files, are appropriately captured and discoverable when needed.
* Business Process Acceleration: manages business critical email messages, such as customer service inquiries, in the same repository as other corporate content.
Note that IBM's Information on Demand (IoD) Conference 2006-- a good place to see the Email Manager in action--is being held next week in California. See CMSWire's round-up of Fall ECM conferences for additional details.
