EMC Offers RSA Cloud Security and Compliance Solution
The Cloud clearly isn’t going away. But the concerns over security, privacy and compliance over Cloud computing haven’t gone away either, which have hindered adoption of Cloud computing by CIOs and other IT decision-makers.
Security and Compliance in the Cloud
"Security is a top concern organizations have about moving critical business applications to the cloud," said Jon Oltsik, Principal Analyst at the Enterprise Strategy Group. "Even with all the benefits cloud computing provides, CIOs will continue to be wary until there is a way to manage security and compliance with the same level of assurance that is available today with physical data center environments.”
EMC (news, site) believes they have made an important first step to address cloud security concerns through the recent unveiling of its RSA Solution for Cloud Security and Compliance at the VMworld 2010 conference. The solution is aimed toward decreasing doubt over cloud computing by providing a comprehensive security, risk and regulatory compliance solution for cloud infrastructures, according to EMC.
The RSA solution uses a dashboard-based platform that centrally manages security across both VMware virtual infrastructures, as well as physical infrastructures. The dashboard integrates with a library of more than 100 VMware-specific controls that map to the most current global regulations such as PCI-DSS and HIPAA to ensure best practices for deployment.
On the security side, the solution integrates with the RSA® enVision security information and event management platform, providing a comprehensive assessment of security events from across the enterprise.
Just the Beginning
This solution is just the first of the number to come from EMC supporting their vision for the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure. In addition, RSA is an active contributor in the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Consensus Assessments Project (which is development a set of questions to assess how secure cloud services are) and this work will be integrated into the RSA solution when it is complete.
The RSA Solution for Cloud Security will become available in Q4 of 2010.
