Iron Mountain Expands Records Management Roster

Iron Mountain have been making some notable noise recently about evolving their tape-storage business into other, more dynamic content management and records management services. Just to let us know they're serious about their new direction, they've gone and snapped up leading hospital records management firm RMS Services USA Ltd., for an undisclosed amount.

“RMS is a proven innovator in the hospital medical records management industry,” said Mark Rempe of Iron Mountain, “and Iron Mountain will benefit from the addition of the Company's talented and tenured executive team,”

RMS report assets of $26m, and are the industry leaders in healthcare file room management solutions. The CEO of RMS is penciled in to head up Iron Mountain's Health Information Services Consulting.

They are also renowned innovators in records-migration to electronic environments, and it is thought that Iron Mountain will be eager to exploit this expertise.

RMS will be Iron Mountain's second significant acquisition in the past six months: in June, they acquired Accutrac Software Inc., a California-based provider of records-management software.
