KnowledgeTreeLive: SaaS Document Management
![]()
KnowledgeTree has released for general availability it’s newest service KnowledgeTreeLive. KnowledgeTreeLive is a SaaS Document Management solution for small to medium sized businesses and is completely built on open source technologies.
After being in beta for awhile, we imagine they’ve added a few new features that will make it better than before.
We first told you about KnowledgeTreeLive back in October.
Some of the new features announced with the release include:
- Drag and Drop Capabilities, including integration with MS Office
- Integration with Zoho office
- A desktop “hot folder” that users can fax, scan and save documents to and they will be simultaneously saved to the KnowledgeTreeLive repository
- Publication of the API so developers can start building mash-ups

As we told you in October, KnowledgeTree is backed by the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. This enables KnowledgeTree to focus on the functionality and features of their document management solution all the while secure in the knowledge that it is hosted in a secure, stable and robust infrastructure.
“Not too long ago, only large enterprises needed a robust document management system. Geographically dispersed teams and compliance challenges have now brought this challenge to small and medium-sized businesses,” said Daniel Chalef, COO of KnowledgeTree. “With KnowledgeTreeLive, business owners can get up and running very quickly, with no extensive training and absolutely no up front investment in software or hardware. The system can grow right along with their business.”
Hmmm…heard this before…a few times. It’s a theme for Software as a Service Vendors. One that is growing by the numbers according to CMSWatch.
They have lots of competition though with other open source vendors like Xythos and non open source solutions like the new MOSS SaaS.
However, not everyone is in agreement that SaaS solutions are always the best fit.
To determine if KnowledgeTreeLive is the solution you’ve been looking for, head over to their site and take a test drive.
