Open Text Releases Business App for Customer Info Management

ECM provider Open Text has announced the availability of an Office Business Application for accessing, and managing, customer information.

Built on the ‘07 Microsoft Office system for commercial availability, the Livelink ECM — Customer Information Management tool provides a complete view of all the information associated with a customer, from any typically-utilized content repository.

Office Business Applications in general take a complex mass of information and essentially mask it behind a simpler, more streamlined format. In this case, Open Text has taken a hairy pile indeed — customer data — and made all such information accessible through the Microsoft Office interface.

“Open Text products and solutions help us manage all business-critical documents in the context of our customer-related processes,” said CIO Klemens Bransmöller of ThyssenKrupp Nirosta, which uses the new app.

“We expect that this optimized interaction between solutions from SAP, Microsoft and Open Text will further reduce our customer-centric transaction and process costs.”

Livelink ECM – Customer Information Management builds out the integration of SAP solution-managed processes into Office with the inclusion of document-centric information. So through the Office interface, which is what most business users are familiar with, users get access to process-centric and document-centric forms of data.

In addition to the Customer Information Management tool, Open Text also proffers extensions and connectors to help its partners and customers build their own enterprise-scale Office Business Applications. These include connectors to Livelink ECM and SAP.

The firm’s unique relationship with Microsoft has perfectly equipped it for Office Business App development. Last year, it was named 2006 Microsoft Global ISV Partner of the Year.
