In a world full of Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, RenewData (news, site) wants to be a Honda. That is, the eDiscovery provider would rather be regarded as automated, reliable and affordable than manual, over-priced and out of reach.
When we talked with Joe Garber, assistant vice president of product marketing, and Doyal Alexander, chief technology officer, at RenewData, they discussed their new eDiscovery Acceleration Platform, designed to provide a solution that addresses the rising costs of eDiscovery and stringent litigation deadlines. Thanks to some new processing capabilities, they hope to do without manual insight or artificial intelligence.
A Race to Relevancy
RenewData automates many of the steps that have been historically handled manually, enabling petabytes of data to be processed daily in order to meet the often strict deadlines and requirements of the litigation process.
In essence, the platform narrows down data to its most relevant parts, automating a manual process, by leveraging analytics to find relevant information. Calling it a "race to relevancy," RenewData is taking on the big and complex with a simple and small platform.
With more IT and legal departments communicating about wanting to lower costs, a four layer process that starts with:
- Data access and management and leads to
- powerful engine that leverages language analysis beyond artificial intelligence and cluster engines that feeds into
- early case assessment and ends in
While RenewData doesn’t pretend to solve all problems, these new processes are in line with customer feedback that indicated a need to include law firms and risk and compliance teams into the process so as to lower costs.
Additionally, managing multiple users on a single platform has its challenges, so RenewData provides a scalable architecture that can manage data at any size.
There's More to eDiscovery than Just Legal Review
The eDiscovery market has evolved over the past several months. It has transformed itself from a reactive process to a proactive one. Companies are better educated about the many ways eDiscovery can help them manage more than just legal review.
RenewData is focused on developing more ways its software platform can manage and back up data, so that when it comes to eDiscovery, companies are more than prepared to tackle analysis and review.
