Tangent Goes SaaS With Email Archival
![]()
Tangent Inc., a developer of innovative technology solutions, has recently announced a hosted version of its DataCove email archiving appliance to help enterprises stay in compliance with eDiscovery requirements.
Organizations of all types must store their email, instant messaging chats and digital faxes to comply with regulations and eDiscovery requirements. This is hardly as easy as it sounds. With these communication channels constantly growing in use and availability, it makes managing and storing data a constant hassle. DataCove aims to solve all this by automating as much of the process as possible.
Email Compliance Is Now Hosted
Some might prefer an off-site solution -- a hosted service, perhaps? If that is the case, DataCove has customers covered.

DataCove's hosted email archival service works similarly to its appliance, but the hosted version will gather and organize all emails and attachments through the web. This data will be stored on Tangent's "fault-tolerant, secure servers" to ensure that the service is running smoothly and securely. This secure data will be available for search and retrieval.
Edward Alexei, VP of IT solutions for Tangent, believes that the introduction of a Software-as-a-Service email archival solution will be efficient and cost-effective for many organizations: “Tangent’s hosted email archival service brings the quality, performance and cost-effectiveness of its DataCove email archival appliance to more sizes and types of organizations as well as to those value-added resellers who seek an online option to email archival.”
Alexei also points out that Tangent is the first company to offer an appliance and hosted solution for email compliance.
In addition to a fully searchable database with easy navigation, DataCove's hosted service will be interoperable with various email systems and protocols:
- Microsoft Exchange
- Lotus Notes
- Novell GroupWise
- First Class
- POP3 and IMAP
- SMTP
Tangent is very confident that the hosted version of DataCove will become as successful as their appliance and is making further progress by expanding their Channel Partner Program. This will allow resellers to benefit from Tangent's offerings as well.
eDiscovery is a hot topic these days, and organizations need to be prepared. DataCove's hosted solution is another step to solving the issue of keeping in compliance.
