UK-based Daeja Image Systems, developer of the in-browser java applet image viewer, ViewONE and its big brother ViewONE Pro, has just added a new module to ViewONE Pro that allows users to view Outlook messages in HTML and Plain Text formats, as well as EML messages on a single page without the need for Outlook itself.
Viewing Email in the Browser
The beauty of this is that users won’t need an email client on their computer, and they view email text in its original format and layout.
Embedded images and email attachments can also be easily viewed or saved to the user’s local file system.
Perhaps in itself this is not going to have you digging for your credit card to download it -- US $925 for a single web server perpetual license -- but it adds to an already impressive list of features for such a little applet!
Other ViewONE Features
Top of that list, is a feature that enables users to view and markup over 300 file formats, through its Universal Viewing Module. However, it also ensures that any mark-ups done on the original files are saved as separate versions so that the integrity of the original files is preserved.
Extensible on the fly with additional modules without user installation, ViewONE Pro offers support for additional file formats like PDF Module and Universal Viewing Module, and for additional viewer functionality such as Annotations Module, Permanent Redaction Server Module, Document Streaming Server Module and the Print Accelerator Module.
Designed for Documentum
Last month, the company announced that ViewONE Pro had received the Designed for EMC Documentum accreditation, which effectively extends the Documentum content management platform to enable viewing of image, PDF and MS Office documents plus over 300 additional formats stored in the Documentum repository.
While Daeja Image Systems is maybe not a household name in the US as yet, the Documentum link is likely to change all that.
