Vignette Game Theory - Collaboration
Developing market share through aggressive collaboration, Vignette and General Electric company, Access Distribution, have announced a distribution relationship whereby Access Distribution will make Vignette Portal, Content Management, and Collaboration solutions available through its reseller network.
Access will offer service, education and maintenance programs to its newly recruited authorized resellers throughout North America.
"With this relationship, Vignette takes a significant step to expand its market footprint through an expanded distribution reach in the United States and Canada," said Mark Belles, vice president of strategic alliances at Vignette.
Strong demand for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions has been fueled by recent compliance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, SEC 17a-4, Gramm-Leach-Bliley and their equivalents. The locus of activity has been in the USA, but evolving European regulations are exerting similar pressures in the European Community member states.

"We are seeing increased demand for enterprise-class content management, document and records management, collaboration, and portal solutions," said Grant Hunter, vice president of the Enterprise Solutions Group at Access Distribution.
The third member at the tea party is Sun Microsystems. Sun has developed the Sun Reference Architecture for Collaboration and the Sun Reference Architecture for Portal Infrastructure around Vignette technologies (though FatWire has a few cameos).
They are presently working on a collaborative Vignette Records & Documents solution leveraging Sun's new compliance-oriented storage products.
Access Distribution will be developing their Vignette reseller network in the USA and Canada, effective immediately.
