XyEnterprise Acquires XSystems, Gets New Business Unit

Concluding a partnership that has lasted over 15 years, XyEnterprise, provider of XML-based content management systems has announced that it has brought XSystems into the fold permanently through acquisition. The acquisition will result in the creation of a new business unit focusing on editorial tools development, standards expertise and consulting services and a new set of tools for the Contenta product suite.
As partners in various activities since 1994, the teams of XyEnterprise and XSystems have more in common than a similar name. They share a number of customers and have worked together on a number of initiatives. So it only makes sense that the larger company would bring the smaller one into the fold.
All current employees of XSystems will move to XyEnterprise and continuing their work on editorial tools development and consulting services to existing clients. Barry Schaeffer, XSystems founder and president will now be a Principal Project Lead at XyEnterprise. What this means is that he will manage service engagements and be involved in product marketing and market research. This includes extensive knowledge in XML standards such as DITA and S1000D.

Among the tools that may get integrated directly into XyEnterprise’s Contenta Suite are XSystem’s Version Manager — a tool to create, validate and manage multiple variants of content and hyperlinks from a single SGML file, Link Author — a tool to create and manage hyperlinks in XML and SGML data, and Change Manager — a tool to edit and track “redline” revisions to XML/SGML content and its associated hyperlinks.
Most clients shouldn’t see much of a difference in service in both companies. Just an integration of already existing tools and technologies and a strengthening of services backed by each company.
Kevin Duffy, President and CEO, XyEnterprise summed up the new relationship perfectly, “Their [XSystem’s] commitment to client satisfaction and success closely aligns with ours: a model that has helped hundreds of customers realize long-term value from their content management and publishing solutions.”
