XyEnterprise, provider of XML and content management solutions, has announced a major change in the development of their flagship product. The companies main XML based delivery product, ContentaView, will now be known as LiveContent.
For those unaware, ContentaView is a product to aid in searching, accessing, delivering and displaying interactive text, graphic and multimedia content quickly and easily. It accomplishes this by using a portable XML database allowing users to define parameters for search to provide the relevant information they are looking for. Therefore it is far from a standard player and it is usable with a vast amount of content sources.
ContentaView Becomes LiveContent
The name change from ContentaView to LiveContent comes as the product grows and evolves to meet the ever changing needs of its users and potential users. The company became concerned that the name ContentaView may lead potential users to believe it is a standard viewer and only usable with their Contenta CMS Platform. This is far from the case though.
According to Mary Parsons, director of marketing communications, XyEnterprise. "This technology represents the next generation of content delivery and presentation, and it can be integrated with almost any content source, making the name ContentaView somewhat of a misnomer."
Additional reasons for the change include an expanding user base beyond the technical documentation world. With many fields transitioning to working online, LiveContent can be used in creative ways by nearly any enterprise looking to manage and deliver content and documentation. The flexibility of the program allows it to be accessed via USB drives, CD, DVD, Internet, intranet, desktop application or handheld devices.
So despite the dangers of rebranding an established product, XyEnterprise moves forward in an attempt not to reinvent themselves, but better meet the changing needs of enterprise business as a whole. Look for new features and more enterprise solutions from them over the next year.
