BranchMerge

SPONSORSHIP |
BranchMerge is a new capability that extends the version content management functionality by allowing content to be branched for editing and publishing. Similar to a source control tool, this capability lets authors create versions of documentation for product releases while maintaining a tight reference to the original source of the documentation.
In the same way that multiple versions of code are usually worked on during the same or overlapping time period, the supporting documentation is also developed. The BranchMerge capability is a nice tool to have when working in this type of environment.
DITA Upload Tool
XyEnterprise has updated their DITA Upload tool. This tool, providing drag and drop functionality within the desktop environment, works with DITA maps, topics and other specialized objects. This upload tool heps ensure documentation is complete and accurate for every release.
Validate References Tool
The Validate References Tool is a new tool that enables you to verify the status of any object reference including validating it recursively. Using this tool users can see what topics need to be checked and where a piece of content is being used.
New features for ContentaView v3.5
It was only August of last year, that XyEnterprise released version 3.3 of this solution suite. This newest version includes added support for the S1000D v3.0 applicability model and process data modules. It also includes enhancements for content resuse, searching, reporting and audit trail functionality.
DITA Bootcamp
If all this talk about DITA excites you, there are a couple of upcoming week long bootcamps you might be interested in attending. The first is being held June 23-27 in Wakefield, MA and is put on by XyEnterprise themselves. The second is in sunny Quebec City, Canada September 29-October 3, 2008.
The DITA Boot Camp includes four workshops designed to take a year off your DITA learning curve:
- Structured Authoring
- Minimalism
- XML for Writers
- DITA
The cost? US$ 1950 — a bargain pricing considering you would pay US$ 3700 for each workshop taken separately.
Register for the bootcamp or take a closer look at the products from XyEnterprise.
