HiSoftware,SharePoint AccessibilityHiSoftware (news, site) has announced a new version of their web content and social computing compliance solution Compliance Sheriff at SPTechCon, happening today in Boston. For those of you who are struggling to ensure your online properties are meeting the required accessibility and compliance guidelines, take a closer look at what's new and improved.

Everything Must be Compliant

Compliance is the name of the game these days and software that can help you manage all those rules and guidelines comes in pretty handy. HiSoftware's Compliance Sheriff 4.0 includes some new functionality that takes compliance management a little further into the realm of performance management.

We've always talked about the Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint, but SharePoint isn't the only platform that HiSoftware's solution works with. Part of the new features in this latest version of the Compliance Sheriff is an API that will enables integration with other enterprise or web content management systems, as well as email and other business systems.

In addition, a new performance management dashboard will let you know at a glance how your content is doing in terms of complying with the necessary rules and regulations such as HIPPA (privacy), and WCAG and Section 508 (accessibility). The solution includes reports and scorecards, and enables organizations to view the compliance performance of individuals or groups.

New checkpoints for SEO are also included out of the box as are 50 new checkpoints for HIPPA/PII. And, in case you were wondering, all these new features have also been added to HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff for SharePoint.

Says Kurt A. Mueffelmann, president and CEO of HiSoftware:

Compliance Sheriff version 4.0 offers enhanced features to better manage compliance concerns on an enterprise level. The addition of the Compliance Insight performance management console gives everyone from executives to those responsible for making fixes insight into an organization’s web compliance issues and allows them to track progress over time.”

A Market in Demand

If you need further proof that the market for compliance software is in high demand (although I doubt it), a look at HiSoftware's Quarter 3 financial results will provide it. Sales for Q3 were up 233% from the same quarter the previous year. Sales for 2010 (to date) have increased 170% from the same period last year and revenues were up 114%.

New performance management capabilities, out of the box support for HIPPA and WCAG, a SharePoint angle: these are all things that will help HiSoftware get more enterprise attention. And we all know that despite SharePoint getting the most attention for governance issues, it's a common theme among many enterprise systems.
