Sometimes the big boys play nice with one another, like Adobe and SAP.
This week, HP and Oracle are playing nice -- or at least their technologies are.
This is the tech world, after all, and vendors realize their customers use other vendors here and there.
HP is trying to capitalize on this with its new pre-engineered solution designed to help enterprises move their Oracle application workloads in the cloud.
It continues a tech relationship that began with Oracle in the 1980s.
"This capability can benefit most Oracle clients that are currently running E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft or Siebel, so the base of clients that can benefit from this pre-packaged solution by HP is very large," said Robert Hildenbrand, vice president of worldwide Oracle Applications Services for HP Enterprise Services.
Moving to the Cloud
They're calling it the HP Helion Business Applications for Oracle. The end game? Deploying Oracle applications on HP Helion Managed Cloud platforms. It includes:
- Pre-priced cloud configurations for Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle’s PeopleSoft and Oracle Fusion Middleware solutions
- Advisory services
- Application provisioning flexibility
- Ready-to-use platform and architecture
- Support for most Oracle applications, middleware and databases
End users will continue to have access to their existing applications in a "highly-available and responsive cloud-based infrastructure," Hildenbrand told CMSWire.
HP officials said with Helion, the CIO gets an enterprise-grade cloud solution that will support all of their applications.
"It also allows them to continue leveraging their existing applications investment -- versus re-implementing -- so that new spending is in the most innovative areas, such as customer experience or mobility solutions," Hildenbrand said.
CFOs will recognize the financial benefits of the cloud and they will be able to continue to use their existing E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft and Siebel solutions. This instead of "discarding that existing investment and starting from scratch on another product or platform," according to Hildenbrand.
Make It Simple
This news is under the HP Enterprise Applications Services for Oracle. Officials at HP said that offering removes complexity and inefficiencies to help Oracle software users take advantage of the functionality.
HP offers support for the following Oracle applications:
- E-Business Suite
- Fusion Middleware
- JD Edwards
- Fusion Applications
- Customer Experience (CX)
- Flexcube / iFlex
HP was already a member of Oracle Partner Network (OPN) and has worked with Oracle clients. HP has been an Oracle partner since 1983 and has been delivering Oracle Applications services since the early 1990s. HP’s work with Oracle solutions in the cloud matured in the last five years.
"HP’s Helion cloud is the most robust enterprise-grade cloud solution in the industry," Hildenbrand told CMSWire. "For the systems we’re targeting -- for example, core financials, HR -- clients are looking for a virtual private cloud solution -- they are not yet looking to put these critical systems in the public cloud."
