While Laserfiche’s v8.3 release in late November added a bunch of new functions, analytics wasn’t one of them. This week, it has announced that Datawatch has joined its Professional Developer Program (PDP), which will add analytics functionality to the November enhancements.
Back to the Mines
The Laserfiche PDP offers Laserfiche customers third-party integrations and configurations that don’t come with its products. With this, they have access to Datawatch’s Monarch Report Mining service.
The addition will provide users with a means of "mining" business intelligence out of information that is already contained in their repositories, including structured, semi-structured and loosely structured data, wherever it resides in the Laserfiche system.
The result is the ability to transform archived content into actionable, live and interactive data without having to go through the process of manually inputing that data and will, according to the two companies, enable users to analyze reports, statements or other business information and view that data using a number of different options.
Those options include Excel spreadsheets, viewing through PDFs or in HTML, and can be generated through the Laserfiche interface.
The addition of analytics to Laserfiche is timely on one hand because of the growing demand by users for access to data analytics, while on the other it sits nicely with the v8.3 release.
That release aimed to offer businesses tighter governance over their data across as many lines of business as possible, while automating transactional processes such as accounts payable processing or case and contract management.
Some of the more notable additions in v8.3 included:
- New workflow activities to automate processes
- Automation of the processes involved with retrieving and updating information from third-party databases and easing third-party integrations
- Customized workflow configurations;
For its part, Monarch Report Mining Server takes static data that can’t easily be filtered, sorted, reordered and analyzed and turns it into actionable data.
It’s not a massive addition, but it’s an important one given the amount of business intelligence contained in repositories that could be exploited for business advantage. If you want to find out more about Laserfiche v8.3, check out the video below.
