Sun to Develop Blogging Platform
Sun Microsystems has hired the developer of the Roller blogging software, Dave Johnson, to design, develop, and deploy the primary blogging system for Sun. Roller currently powers Sun's corporate blog infrastructure.
Roller is blogging software that is designed to support multiple simultaneous weblog users and visitors. Roller supports all of the latest-and-greatest weblogging features such as comments, WYSIWYG HTML editing, page templates, RSS syndication, trackback, blogroll management, and provides an XML-RPC interface for blogging clients such as w:bloggar and nntp//rss.
The software is written entirely in Java with calls to Java Servlet and JDBC APIs. To date Roller has been open source, licensed under the Roller Software License.
