Vital Path has just released a new version of its PathBuilder offering, in which vestiges of virtualization are used for the greater good: “in-place” records management (that's VP's specialty).

“In place” records management solutions make it possible for businesses to manage content at line-of-business and departmental levels, while managing records at the enterprise level.

Bi-directional communications in the new PathBuilder enable users to implement search, ediscovery and in-place records management at enterprise level.

These possibilities are made reality via a liaison with Open Text's Livelink ECM.

PathBuilder's virtualization aspect also admins and editors access content in different systems from remote locales. This too is orchestrated via Livelink, through which content is linked in a remote repository.

Alien content, accessed in this manner, looks and feels like other Livelink content — a soothingly familiar face for those who despise, but ultimately need, change.
