Last week, we discussed how to create a successful BYOD policy. It involves focusing on the people using the devices and the sources of information they want to access from their device, rather than the device itself. Further emphasizing this need, Centrify has released a set of integrated capabilities that goes well beyond mobile device management. The new platform can deliver secure, enterprise-class mobility while improving security and increasing productivity in the enterprise.
It's Not the Device, It's the Application
Today’s release provides comprehensive mobile application management, as well as “Zero Sign-on” for browser-based applications and rich mobile applications. In fact, it confronts the root cause for many of the challenges IT professionals and users face when it comes to BYOD adoption — cloud based apps — and addresses it by delivering a platform that enables applications for enterprise cloud, mobile and BYOD environments. Centrify is no stranger to mobile app security. In December, the company introduced a new cloud-based offering designed to let organizations centrally secure and control access to their deployments of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) apps and other cloud services.
Bring Your Own
Why such a strong focus on mobile application management? As we enter further into an app economy, in which mobile apps are more popular among consumers and generate more revenue than ever before, the enterprise is being disrupted by its employee’s access and expectations for access to mobile apps. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has given way to Bring Your Own Application (BYOA) and as a result, mobile security is again at the forefront.
Rapid employee adoption of SaaS and rich mobile applications combined with BYOD programs can be a unstable equation, especially for IT departments, who are finding that they no longer own the endpoint devices or back-end application resources on their networks. With Centrify’s unified approach, IT can manage an employee’s digital identity across on-premise, cloud and mobile resources, while providing visibility and control required for organizations to achieve compliance, reduce costs and mitigate risks. Furthermore, the unified platform can increase productivity and secure access for their user centric, mobile workforce.
The Centrify Cloud Services platform integrates application single sign-on, mobile device management, mobile application management, mobile authentication and mobile container management services in a single solution that enables organizations to easily manage mobile and cloud initiatives via an infrastructure they already own. Centrify for SaaS 2013 and Centrify for Mobile 2013 are now generally available and allows users to securely utilize their existing Active Directory credentials to get Single Sign-on to their SaaS apps from a web browser running on any system, laptop or mobile device, whether the endpoint is on the corporate network or not.
