Bitrix24_home.png   Bitrix Software has unveiled a major upgrade for its beta Bitrix24 social intranet service, with Google Docs integration, mobile CRM and other enhancements.

The Alexandria, Virginia-based company has also added support for a WebRTC protocol-based videochat, which provides group and video chat similar to Skype, and the iOS and Android apps now support the CRM functions. The company said that the Bitrix24 service, launched last Spring, currently has a user base of nearly 60,000 small businesses, and offers “more options and functions than our more established competitors” like Yammer, Chatter, Podio or Tibbr. In March, the announced user count was about 50,000.

Self-Hosted Version of Bitrix24

In addition, self-hosted versions are now available. Bitrix President Dmitry Valyanov said in a statement that, “even though we initially intended Bitrix24 to be a tool for small businesses, we’ve had several enterprise clients” who wanted to install Bitrix24 on their own servers and customize it for their needs. The self-hosted versions support Active Directory, single sign-on, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint Sync and learning management.

The hosted Bitrix24 is free for 12 users or less. After a dozen, the price starts at $99/month for unlimited users. The self-hosted version starts at $2299 for a one-time fee, which includes customization, enhanced security, source code and the API.

Social Software for SMBs

Bitrix24, described on its website as “the final evolutionary stage of Bitrix intranet and extranet solutions,” is a social business platform for SMBs, with collaboration, communication, social networking, workflow and knowledge management. Functions include an activity stream, IM, conversations, an extranet, document management, workgroups, time and task management, employee search, e-learning and CRM.

The parent company, Bitrix Software, also offers the Bitrix Site Manager for website management, e-commerce and e-marketing.

In March, the company issued a revised version of Bitrix24, with file sync between local and online, a revised main page and a tablet version.
