Heads up, people. High-definition video is about to hit the world of Social Business, thanks to a strategic partnership between Polycom Inc. and Jive Software.
Social Business + Video
Essentially, injecting Polycom HD video into Jive's social business platform will allow Jive customers to conduct live video chats (including group video calls) as well as record video meetings.
The market need for such an add is clear: Video-enabled platforms give users a much more powerful and immediate way to engage with others in their network. We've seen Skype act as the star of the show several times, and Hangouts is one of the main Google+ features expected to steal the hearts of the enterprise-- once Plus for business rolls out.
"Integrating social business with real-time video is the next logical step in significantly improving how enterprise users communicate, collaborate, and become more productive," said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, executive vice president and general manager of UC solutions and chief development officer, Polycom. "Together, Polycom and Jive will deliver a real-time HD video solution powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform for social business that is incredibly easy to use and fulfills the growing demand for real-time workplace collaboration."
The Wondrous Life of Jive SBS
Jive has been on the minds of many lately, even without the video news. The social business platform has landed premium spots in various Gartner Magic Quadrants and Forrester Wave Reports, including Social Software in the Workplace and Community Platforms.
In addition to a widely expected upcoming IPO, Jive has gained the attention of research firms by showing social gumption with increases in enterprise customers, the extension of its technology vision and revenue growth. The high-definition video perk from Polycom only stands to improve what Jive has on its shelves, and will also be based on open standards to ensure interoperability with other business and communications applications.
"Jive is excited to partner with Polycom to bring the latest innovation in video communications to our customers," added Chris Morace, senior vice president of Business Development, Jive. "This partnership is yet another step in our commitment to leverage the power of social to change the way business gets done in the enterprise."
If you're itching to see the feature in action, word is a demo will be showcased at JiveWorld11 in Las Vegas, October 4-6.
