A new social collaboration platform, Tracky, announces US$ 1 million in angel funding and opens up to private beta testers.
Las Vegas-based Tracky has been in development for a little more than a year, according to the recent company announcement. The beta version of the platform was demonstrated last weekend at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
How is Tracky different than all the other project management and collaboration tools currently available? The company says that Tracky offers a combination of tools in one platform, including:
- To-do lists
- Shared calendars
- Live chat
- Task management
- Social accountability
- Cloud-based file sharing
- Community building
On March 8, Tracky opened up to private beta testers. To sign up for an invite, visit the Tracky homepage.
What other project management tools call "tasks," Tracky calls "tracks":
Tracks are to Tracky what Donnie Wahlberg was to New Kids on the Block. You can store anything and everything in a track -- whatever your heart desires -- whether it's a task you have to get done ASAP or a cool quote you'd like to share with some of your friends or coworkers. In short, Tracks are like Tweets for doers: they're little bits of information that you'd like to comment or act upon."
A community discovery feature lets users view the public tracks of other people in the Tracky community. "Or, if you know you want to get something done but you’re not exactly sure if you have the resources or the know-how to do it, no worries," the site explains. "Create a public track and let your Tracky followers help you work towards achieving your goals."
The Tracky iPhone app rolled out on March 9. With the iPhone app, Tracky users will be able to have access to, create and check off "tracks" from their phones; have access to groups and people they follow; leave messages on a track's discussion area and find local groups.
The app works with the Tracky site, which provides additional functionality such as project circles, file sharing, drag-and-drop calendar, time tracking, cloud syncing and geolocation.
The free plan lets users have up to five projects, 100MB of file storage, and public and private controls. For US$ 5 per month, users will be able to have unlimited projects and users, 1GB file storage, and public and private controls. Extra storage is available for US$ 0.35GB, and corporate discounts are also available for 100+ members.
