Bitrix is out with its Bitrix Intranet 11.5 for small and medium-sized businesses. The company said that the new version features a revised collaboration model for the on-premises product, designed for companies that prefer to keep their data on-site.
In addition to collaboration, Intranet 11.5 provides communication, social networking, workflow and knowledge management. CEO Sergey Rizhikov said in a statement that the new version “merges classic intranet tools with a social-oriented communications format.”
Over 250 Enhancements
In all, Bitrix said the new release includes more than 250 enhancements. Two templates are offered in version 11.5 -- the Classic Intranet template and a new Social Intranet template.
The Social Intranet template is the centerpiece of the new collaboration model, and it emphasizes social interaction through such functions as the Activity Stream, commenting, a Like button and social search.
The template also offers a Create button on every page in Bitrix Intranet. It allows users to begin tasks, schedule events in the calendar, send files or messages, and create new workgroups from any location. The company said that practical advantages of the new template include simplified navigation and a reduction in ramp-up time for employees.
Activity Stream provides employees with project and workgroup updates, discussions with co-workers, commenting, file exchange and task management. Only activities relevant to a given worker’s projects are displayed, and external workgroups in the Extranet can also be monitored in the Stream.
Visual Company Structure
A new Instant Messenger provides communications between users, as well as system notifications, task updates and changes to documents.
The company also points to another potential time-saver in the new release, a visual Company Structure. The Structure allows a user to drag-and-drop employees, departments and department heads, so that the organizational structure can be quickly redefined and then reflected in task management and reporting.
Version 11.15 also offers integration between the Business Processes module, tasks and CRM, enabling task management in the CRM and automatic report generation at any stage.
