The first release of Mozilla’s in-browser messaging/content aggregation client was—at best—a terribly executed extension backed by a good idea and a cool looking logo.

If you want a little more control or flexibility with your blogging, using a desktop blogging client is a good choice. Not to stereotype, but those creative blogging types usually come fitted with their own Macs. They want a blogging tool that will let them be who they are without forcing them into the constraints of templates and standard front ends.
Yet, of all the hip, savvy software preloaded onto Macs, none really include a true blogging client (iWeb doesn't count).
If you crave a desktop blogging tool rather than a broswer-based interface to help you write your cool posts, CMSWire offers a few suggestions.

LiveMesh, released earlier this year by Microsoft and still in beta, picked up a major award at the 2008 Crunchies. Amidst a flurry of start-ups, new “2.0” services and power house competition, it was a little surprising to see LiveMesh win the Best Technology Innovation Crunchie. Is the award enough to sway skeptical bloggers’ opinions about the enterprise 2.0 synchronization and collaboration system?

Nowadays, if you don't have a search function on your site, you're pretty much living in the dark ages. In fact, if you don't have search functionality, why do you even have a website, man? What are you thinking?
Anyway. Just like the story goes with all things standard, it was only a matter of time before they started tinkering around with the way we dig through sites. Introducing Wibe7.tv, a visual search engine specifically for YouTube videos.

Now that Amazon Web Services is starting to gain traction in the hosted application market, AWS today announced a new tool that will allow Amazon Web Service users to keep tabs on their AWS services. The first release of the management console is focused on the Elastic Compute Cloud (or EC2), AWS' virtualized server computing resource.
We have seen tools such as Ylastic that allow for monitoring of AWS utilities such as Amazon EC2, S3, SQS and SimpleDB, but the newly released tool from Amazon Web Services is the first to originate from AWS itself.

Signs of economic unrest usually include a push to pander to a different or wider demographic. During 1992's economic recession, it was declared the Year of the Woman, a nod to the 34 women in the House and Senate. This year, we also celebrate a record-number of women in the 111th Congress. And again, it has been declared the Year of the Woman.
However, this time, a woman's representation expands to the Web, where a number of female-centric sites are kicking butt and taking names. Web sites targeted to women are growing in numbers, serving up content across a wide swath of subjects and age groups. From the looks of it, there seems to be something for everyone.
