If for some odd reason you find yourself in Indiana this August, try to make Technical Communication 2.0, a half-day event on Web 2.0, technology and the workplace.

Perhaps coolest of all, the opportunity is free.

The program is comprised of two 90-minute sessions, including:

  • Understanding Web 2.0 And Its Impact On Technical Communication, by Scott Abel, The Content Wrangler
Here's a chance to learn how to purvey “content as a service” through Web 2.0 means. You'll also have an opportunity to hash out the impending arrival of the Semantic Web.
  • Workplace 2.0 - Making Cross-Functional Collaboration Happen, by Emma Hamer, Strategy A Consulting, Vancouver, BC
Take a closer look at collaboration - what people think it is, and what it actually means. Among other things, you'll be examining different communication styles, ways to help encourage your team, and the dynamics of relationship development in a competitive or office environment.

The event takes place on August 10, from 1 PM to 4:30 PM EST. Plan to appear at the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library. Snacks and coffee will be provided.

RSVP to Scott Abel right here.

Free meetups like this are great chances to network, learn and really get to know your tech and online community. If you've got news about this or similar learning opportunities, let us know.
