On the brink of Morello and Immediacy brands dissolving in history, Alterian Content Manager 5.9.5 brings several new features and enhancements, ranging from W3C’s WCAG validation capabilities to changes to the user interface that have been added to both the web-based and desktop versions of the Web CMS.
What’s New in Alterian Content Manager 5.9.5
One of the new features is the ability to do standards-compliant accessibility checking and web content validation against the latest W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Page Studio -- Alterian’s (news, site) module for control over design and layout of pages -- saw some changes as well. Namely, in the ability to include prebuilt functionalities such Google Maps, login forms, polls as components into pages.
Another addition to Page Studio is the ability to auto generate configuration forms for components that need specific parameters, Undo & Redo functionality and Smart Cell Placement -- a feature that anticipates where content authors may want to place certain components on the page.
New features have been added to the editorial interface eliminating the need to switch back and forth between this interface and the administrative interface.
Business users also get a new way of sorting and ordering items in the editorial interface to better control relevance and order of content items on the website.
Also fresh on the UI front is a new graphical workflow representation and refined access rights on websites’ branches.
Alterian Content Manager v7 Coming Soon
Come fall, we should see the next major release of CM 7 that will bring together the elements of Alterian Content Manager Corporate & Enterprise Editions and consolidate everything into one WCM platform -- the time when we will say "Fare thee well! and if for ever, Still for ever, fare thee well..." (thanks, Lord Byron) to Morello and Immediacy Web CMS brands.
