Ektron Teams Up to Provide Custom Manufacturing Solutions

Ektron CMS400.NET may soon become very popular in the manufacturing and retail industries, as it is now the foundation of MResult Corporation’s Starter Site+ package.

Starter Site+, built on CMS400.NET, is a product designed specifically for manufacturers and retailers looking for speedy redesign solutions coupled with a low cost of ownership.

The product boasts a customizable Information Architecture, predefined templates and out-of-the-box interactive modules, including Dealer Locator, Product Carousel, Rotating Promotional Module and Product Compare. It is also presented as a solution for all kinds of business needs: be it Intranet, extranet or Internet.

MResult Corporation is based in New London, CT, and employs about 150 people. The company specializes in business intelligence, portal and application development for R&D, finance and manufacturing industries. The majority of the company’s projects in portal and application development are based on Ektron CMS400.NET, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft .NET, so the decision to partner with Ektron on a more involved basis comes as no surprise.

Providing a more tailored extension of Ektron’s CMS platform should get some attention among manufacturers, as it may seem an easier solution than buying a whole CMS. The only unresolved piece of this puzzle is whether the tinier version of Ektron’s CMS is really that much more effective than an entire Ektron product, which should be customizable to the needs of the manufacturing, as well as any other industry for that matter.

Although, MResult tries to establish the product’s value by saying that it comes with predefined and customizable Information Architecture and page templates, that hardly sounds like an attractive value proposition in the CMS-rich market. While it may be a fact that the majority of manufacturers would use a similar IA, this is one part of any given website that needs to be as flexible as possible.

This starter application tailored to the manufactures needs also contains the information delivery system and all of Ektron’s out-of-the-box functionality.
