Emagine launches the first version of emagiC Web CMS based on .NET technology. The new release expands Emagine's CMS product range. emagiC CMS.Net is designed and developed for version 2.0 of the .NET framework.emagiC CMS.Net is unites content management with the best of site management and portal management. Content is independent of the pages and can be added dynamically to a page, just like a portal site. The same content can be reused on different pages in the site. The web based administration now supports drag & drop, bringing it closer to traditional windows applications than before. The site management, which was already available in the existing emagiC CMS products, enables extranet security on the page level and dynamic navigation. "emagiC CMS.Net is not just emagiC on a new technology", explains Dave Vanwonterghem, General Manager at Emagine. "To get the most out of the .NET framework, the entire architecture was re-evaluated, resulting in new features for the end-user such as portal management." emagiC CMS.Net consists of a framework that comes with a number of standard modules to manage different types of content. Examples include a wysiwyg editor, a dynamic menu, a rotator and an image gallery. Additionally, the base CMS license can be extended by purchasing optional modules. The XForms application, based on the new W3C XForms standard, is Emagine's flagship module. It manages structured content, such as product catalogues, news items or jobs. "Today, a CMS does not only have to manage content but should also offer the development framework for any extension needed", says Cedric Baelemans, Business Manager. "Therefore, we opted for a technology of the future. Extendibility was always a strong argument in favor of emagiC CMS, and we didn't want to loose that advantage in the new .NET version." emagiC CMS.Net is already available for partners through the partner extranet. In October, the product will become publicly available for download. Additional modules will be launched in the fall to complete the emagiC CMS.Net product range. Pricing for the product starts at EU 1600. The existing emagiC CMS, based on ASP/COM technology, and the new emagiC CMS.Net will co-exist as two separate products, providing a path for organizations who have not yet migrated to .NET.
